Voice actor on ‘Bob’s Burgers’ injured in New Hampshire car crash

The voice actor who plays the role of the Belcher family middle child Gene on the animated show “Bob’s Burgers” was injured after in a fiery crash at a New Hampshire toll plaza Tuesday, officials said.

Yevgeny Mirman, 51, who voices the role of Gene Belcher, was taken to a hospital after the crash around 11:55 a.m. at the Bedford Toll Plaza on the Everett Turnpike, New Hampshire State Police said in a statement Tuesday.

His 2026 Lucid Gravity caught fire after the crash and witnesses reported there was someone trapped inside, according to police.

A state trooper assigned to Gov. Kelly Ayotte’s security detail passed by and pulled Mirman out of the vehicle, state police said.

Local news coverage of the aftermath of the crash, which showed the vehicle with flames shooting up from the front as it was wedged in the toll booth, was posted online by Ayotte with a message of thanks.

“I‘m proud of the State Trooper and the bystanders who saved a life at the scene of yesterday’s crash in Bedford,” Ayotte wrote on X Wednesday.

“It’s an example of the great work first responders do each day to keep New Hampshire safe and how Granite Staters always step up to help someone in need,” she wrote.

Mirman is recovering, his publicist said Wednesday.

“Eugene was in a very scary car accident. He wants to thank the bystanders, state police, first responders and hospital staff who saved him,” publicist Sheila Kenny told NBC Boston.

“He is grateful to be on the mend. At this time, we kindly ask for privacy for Eugene and his family as he focuses on recovering from his injuries,” she said.

The crash is under investigation and no charges have been filed, state police said in Tuesday's statement.

“Bob’s Burgers” is an animated show about the owner of a burger shop, and his family, that has aired since 2011.
