Australia, it’s fucking official.

After a mysterious projection featuring both bands’ iconic artwork sent heavy music fans into complete meltdown, System Of A Down and Faith No More have confirmed they are joining forces for a colossal Australian stadium tour in early 2027!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jan-Feb 2027

System Of A Down will return Down Under for their first Australian headline tour in more than a decade, bringing Faith No More along as very special guests for three enormous shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

The run will kick off at Sydney’s Accor Stadium on Friday, 22 January, before hitting Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium on Wednesday, 27 January and wrapping up at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium on Monday, 1 February.

In other words: one of the most absurdly stacked heavy music bills ever assembled on Australian soil is actually fucking happening.

The announcement follows days of feverish speculation after Wall Of Sound’s Browny captured footage of a large-scale projection in Brisbane flashing Faith No More’s eight-pointed star logo alongside the red hand artwork from System Of A Down’s self-titled debut album.

Fans immediately suspected some kind of joint announcement was brewing.

They were absolutely correct. More projections were spotted at East Coast stadiums over the weekend and now, it’s official.

For Australian System Of A Down fans, the wait has been br00tal.

The Armenian-American heavy icons have not toured here since Soundwave 2012, meaning these newly announced stadium dates will mark their first Australian performances in 14 years.

Across albums including their self-titled debut, Toxicity, Steal This Album!, Mezmerize and Hypnotize, System Of A Down became one of the most singular and influential heavy bands of the modern era, blending metal, punk, Armenian musical traditions, political fury and complete sonic chaos into a sound nobody else has ever successfully replicated.

With more than 42 million albums sold worldwide and a catalogue featuring era-defining tracks including Chop Suey!, Toxicity, B.Y.O.B., Aerials, Sugar and Hypnotize, the band’s return is already shaping up as one of the biggest live music events Australia has seen in years.

And then there’s Faith No More.

The genre-warping legends recently confirmed plans to return to touring in 2027 after years of uncertainty surrounding their future, with bassist Bill Gould declaring: “Yeah, we’re gonna do it. We’re gonna play.”

The Aussie shows will carry enormous significance for local fans.

Faith No More have not performed in Australia since Soundwave 2015, while their last full Australian headline tour took place all the way back in 1997.

A planned comeback tour was originally announced for 2020, before being postponed twice by the pandemic and ultimately cancelled in 2021 as frontman Mike Patton stepped back to focus on his mental health.

Now, after nearly a decade away from the stage altogether, Faith No More are finally returning – and Australia will be among the first places to witness it.

Together, System Of A Down and Faith No More represent two wildly different but equally uncompromising strains of alternative heavy music.

Both bands built their careers by refusing to fit neatly into any existing genre, smashing together metal, punk, funk, experimental music, political commentary, absurdist humour and theatrical chaos while influencing generations of artists in their wake.

Now they’re bringing that collective history to Aussie stadiums.

Hold onto your butts.
