Jason Lewis, who famously played Smith on Sex and the City, teased "creative work" is coming after being absent from an onscreen project for years.

"I'm far enough along now that it felt like it was time to resurface and share what I've been doing," Lewis said in an Instagram video.

Lewis joined Sex and the City in 2003 as a love interest for Kim Cattrall's Samantha Jones, and made his last appearance in 2010's Sex and the City 2.

It's been more than two decades since Jason Lewis awed audiences, and Kim Cattrall's character Samantha Jones, with his physique as sexy model Jerry "Smith" Jerrod on Sex and the City.

While Lewis took on a mix of onscreen roles since his last appearance as Smith on 2010's Sex and the City 2, the actor hasn't appeared in a project since 2020. On Wednesday, Lewis took to a newly created Instagram account to address his absence while hinting at having something in the works.

"Three years ago, I went quiet. Not because I had nothing to say but because I had something to do," Lewis began his video. "The kind of creative work that doesn't leave room for much else, and I made my peace with that."

Per Lewis' IMDb, he has one upcoming project titled Restaveks that is in post-production. While the actor didn't address what he specifically has in the pipeline, he explained that "it's the kind of work that needs to find its people though."

"I'm still in it," Lewis added. "And I'm far enough along now that it felt like it was time to resurface and share what I've been doing. More to come."

Originally a model who appeared in campaigns for Guess?, Tommy Hilfiger and Hugo Boss, Lewis first appeared on HBO's hit series Sex and the City in 2003 in the Season 6 premiere titled "Great Sexpectations."

Smith became a key love interest for Samantha, and remained on the series until it ended in 2004. He reprised his role in 2008's Sex and the City: The Movie and its 2010 sequel. Despite their passionate relationship throughout the series and films, the characters eventually broke up in the sequel due to Samantha feeling she was losing her independence by remaining in the relationship, famously telling Smith, "I love you, but I love me more."

Cattrall's iconic Samantha seemingly had faded from the Sex and the City universe herself when the actress said she didn't want to appear in the spinoff series And Just Like That... Samantha's absence was explained as Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Samantha having a falling-out, and the high-powered PR exec having relocated to London. However, the two eventually reconnected over the death of Carrie's husband, John James Preston (Chris Noth).

Samantha returned on screen for the Season 2 finale, with Samantha calling Carrie to pay her respects to Carrie's iconic New York City apartment before she moved out.

After three seasons, And Just Like That... aired its final episode on Aug. 14, 2025.
