Patrick Muldoon's loved ones came together to celebrate his life nearly a month after his sudden death.
The Melrose Place actor died of a heart attack on April 19 at age 57. On Saturday, May 16, a celebration of life ceremony was held in his honor at St. Monica Catholic Church in Santa Monica, Calif., according to an online obituary and a photo of a service program shared by Muldoon's former USC Trojans football teammate Rodney Peete.
In a Saturday Instagram post, which also included a throwback photo from the friends' USC football days, Peete wrote, “Tough Day saying goodbye to my friend Pat Muldoon!!!”
“He was my Teammate, My Brother, My Friend,” the former college athlete continued of Muldoon. “Miss you already brotha!!!”

Muldoon's sister, Shana Muldoon Zappa, thanked Peete for the tribute on Instagram Stories, writing, “He loves you. Fight on.”
Sami Sheen, the 22-year-old daughter of Muldoon's friend and ex-girlfriend Denise Richards, was seemingly also in attendance at the ceremony.
“Miss u so much Patrick,” she wrote alongside a photo of a handout from the Days of Our Lives actor's service on Instagram Stories.

Actress Andrea Bendewald also attended and shared a photo of a lyric print-out for “Become Everything” by Muldoon's band The Sleeping Masses, in which he was the lead vocalist. Music was a large part of the ceremony, which also included live performances of “Amazing Grace” and “Over the Rainbow,” per footage Bendewald shared.

Muldoon died of myocardial infarction, commonly known as a heart attack, on April 19, according to the death certificate, viewed by PEOPLE. His remains were cremated on April 28.
Muldoon most notably played Austin Reed on Days of Our Lives from 1992 to 1995, before reprising his role again in 2011. He also starred as Richard Hart in Melrose Place for three seasons until 1996.
Other notable works included a three-episode stint on Saved by the Bell and his performance as Zander Barcalow in the 1997 cult classic Starship Troopers.
Just two days before his death, Muldoon teased the star-studded upcoming crime thriller film, Kockroach, on which he is credited as an executive producer. Another thriller the late actor recently worked on, Dirty Hands, released on digital.

The movie stars Muldoon and Kevin Interdonato as brothers caught in a dangerous drug war. It also reunited Muldoon with Richards, 55.
After learning of his death, Richards honored Starship Troopers costar Muldoon in an Instagram post, calling him her "best friend" and "voice of reason.” She also wrote "the friendship, love, support, respect & loyalty we had was unconditional and rare.”
