Miss Jamaica, Dr. Gabrielle Henry, made her first public appearance six months after suffering a shocking fall during the 2025 Miss Universe pageant.
While attending the Integrity Children's Fund's Dinner en Rouge Gala in Atlanta, Ga., on May 16, an event aimed at raising money for at-risk children in Jamaica and Atlanta, Henry expressed wanting to attend the "remarkable event" despite still being in recovery from injuries sustained in the fall.**
"Despite the prolonged recovery I have been going through, I could not miss being present to support such a remarkable event," Henry said during her speech, according to PEOPLE. "Today we recognize and celebrate the amazing efforts of our fellow brothers — members of the Jamaican diaspora who have poured out their hearts and souls into something so meaningful and empowering."

During the Miss Universe preliminaries last November, Henry tumbled from the stage during the evening gown round. Fan-recorded footage showed Henry being removed from the pageant on a stretcher. Henry’s sister, Dr. Phylicia Henry-Samuels, and their mother, Maureen Henry, were reportedly by her side in Thailand as she recovered in the hospital.
Following the accident, the pageant released a statement on behalf of itself and Henry's family noting her injuries and recovery thus far.**
"Dr. Henry suffered a serious fall through an opening on the stage while performing her walk during the preliminary competition on November 19, 2025, resulting in an intracranial hemorrhage with loss of consciousness, a fracture, facial lacerations and other significant injuries," the statement read. "She was immediately admitted to intensive care in Bangkok, where she remained in critical condition under constant neurological monitoring, and continues to require 24-hour specialist supervision."
Along with the statement sharing how the Miss Universe Organization had paid for Henry's medical expenses plus accommodations for her family staying Thailand, it also disputed reports that she was responsible for her injuries, stating "the Miss Universe Organization has never attributed blame to Dr. Henry and confirms that those suggestions are unfounded and do not reflect the facts."**

In February, Henry shared a health update for herself on Instagram, explaining that at a time when she had hoped to "represent Jamaica at my fullest" she instead "faced the most unexpected injury of my life."
"It shifted everything," Henry said of her fall. "Yet I have learned that a fall can uncover a depth of strength you did not know you possessed. My greatest strength has been in choosing to rise, even while I am still on the journey."
Henry also thanked healthcare professionals in Thailand and Jamaica for aiding in her recovery. "Their care, precision and steady encouragement have sustained me through moments of uncertainty. It takes intention to stand beside someone at their lowest point and help them move, step by step, toward their highest," she wrote.
"This period has given me space to reflect. I know my story is still unfolding," she continued. "What happened was not an ending; it marked the beginning of building a stronger legacy, creating impact and leaving a meaningful mark. I remain committed to making my country proud and to inspiring every person I encounter along the way. May this chapter, and the work still being done within it, stand as a testament to resilience and resolve."
