Connor Tomlinson tells PEOPLE why he and Georgie broke up after their trip to London in season 4 of Love on the Spectrum

Throughout the trip, Connor expressed feeling a disconnect with his then-girlfriend, whom he had been dating for a year

He also reveals an update on his personal growth since joining the Netflix series and experiencing his first relationship

Connor Tomlinson is opening up about his decision to part ways with Georgie Harris.

In season 4 of Love on the Spectrum, Connor, 26, and Georgie, 23, traveled to London together, where viewers saw him begin to question the longevity of their relationship. At one point, Connor admitted that Georgie’s sarcastic humor “feels pretty mean sometimes,” and he later revealed that they broke up off-camera shortly after returning from their trip.

“We reached an understanding,” he told the other cast members at Madison and Tyler’s engagement party in the finale episode. “We’re two wonderful people, but two very different people and that’s okay. That’s why we date, for either a reason, a season or a lifetime.”

“We just weren’t cut out for each other,” he added.

In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Connor further explains what led him to end the relationship after a year of dating Georgie.

“Firstly, this was the longest we spent with each other on a date,” he notes of their time abroad. “And well, I was just blown away by the fact I was in London. I mean, the last time I was there was just for one day and I barely got to see all the great landmarks, like Big Ben, Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus and, of course, Buckingham Palace.”

“But I noticed Georgie didn't seem as hyped by this as I was,” he continues. “And well, that made me concerned. Anyone else would've thought themselves blessed to be here.”

When Connor’s sister, Anna, suggests that he and Georgie had a “disconnect in interests” that became more clear, he agrees.

“Yeah, that's why we date,” he says.

Thinking back on his journey since joining the hit Netflix series in season 2, which aired in January 2024, Connor reflects on the growth he has made not only in his love life, but also on a personal level.

“I feel like I've grown greatly as both a TV star and as a man,” he says. “I never even dated before going on that show. I was always too afraid, too nervous that I'd say the wrong thing and it would derail the whole thing. Now I feel my confidence is soaring.”

“Well, honestly, I just like the fact that I get to show the world who I really am and what I really like,” Connor shares. “This has really opened some doors for me. I feel like I can do anything. Now that everyone knows me, I feel like I could make something of myself.”
