The 42-year-old American businesswoman and mother of seven kids, Hilaria Baldwin, has once again addressed the recurring “gold digger” rumors. Given the 26-year age gap with her husband, actor Alec Baldwin, the former yoga instructor has often been accused of marrying for money.

However, she opened up about the truth of her relationship and revealed how badly the rumors hurt.

Hilaria Baldwin Shoots Down Gold Digger Rumors

During a recent appearance on Sirius XM’s Page Six Radio, Hilaria Baldwin addressed the gold digger rumors that have persisted throughout her 14-year marriage to Alec Baldwin.

She began by admitting how her situation, where she married the rich, famous, and older actor as a 27-year-old yoga instructor, truly gave off “gold digger vibes.”

However, she later clarified that the rumors still hurt her “because like I’m not that way.” The 42-year-old revealed that she refused her husband’s expensive gifts to remain true to herself.

She shared, “He, from the beginning, I don’t think I’ve ever said this, but like he would always try to buy me things and I would be like, ‘No, I don’t want this.’”

Reflecting on her housing situation in New York, the businesswoman recalled how her radiator broke down during the chilly December weather.

She said she could have asked the actor for financial help. Instead, she used an old laptop to keep her hands warm in the freezing apartment.

“So I actually had a computer that didn’t work very well, a laptop, and I would use it to heat my hands at night. So I’d lay I’d literally lay in one position,” the mother of seven recalled.

“I’d have one palm up and one palm down. And I would use it to be on my hands because I was so cold. And it didn’t really work as like a great computer because probably I don’t know…it was overheating and it was hot. I love this. This is my heater,” the 42-year-old said.

Hilaria Baldwin said, “I was like, ‘I don’t want you to buy me something because I want to know that I like you for you. Because I don’t want to be a prisoner either.’”

Earlier in 2025, during the premiere episode of their TLC reality show, The Baldwins, Hilaria Baldwin had once again addressed the “gold digger” criticism, alongside her husband.

“I haven’t googled myself in a very long time, so I don’t know what the word on the street is, but I’ve heard some rumors,” she said on the show. Still, the former yoga instructor admitted, “There’s certain things I can understand.”

She continued, “If I looked at a 27-year-old yoga instructor that was dating a 53-year-old rich and famous actor, what would I think?” However, she once again clarified that she didn’t marry her actor husband for his fame and fortune.

Turning to Alec Baldwin during the show, the mother of seven said, “People think that I married you for money, fame, glamour, all of these things…Why I married you is because you’re a good-looking guy. You were a good-looking guy.”

Explaining her reason behind marrying the 68-year-old actor, the businesswoman further added, “he’s really fantastic. He’s funny, he’s kind, he’s handsome, he’s extraordinarily smart and he’s so generous.”
