Dan + Shay's forthcoming album, Young, is set for release on Aug. 21. So far, they've released singles "Say So" and "Young."
"This is by far our most personal album yet, and gives a real-time snapshot of exactly where we are in our lives," the "Tequila" singers wrote on Instagram on May 14. "From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for your patience and support while we made YOUNG. We've never been more proud of a batch of songs, and hope they mean as much to you as they do to us."

When the duo released "Say So" on April 2 — which was inspired by a mutual friend Ben Vaughn, who was the head of Warner Chappell Publishing and died by suicide in January 2025 at age 49 — they opened up to Variety about worrying it was "too heavy."
"We were going back and forth asking, 'Man, is this song too heavy for Dan + Shay?' But I think people can look at us just as they see some of their friends and think, 'There's no way that they're going through something. They look like they're doing great,'" Mooney told Variety.
Mooney continued, "That's just a sad reality of mental health, that no matter what it looks like on the outside, you never know what somebody's battling with on the inside. And as Dan mentioned, both he and I have struggled with that. No matter how well you're doing, some of those lowest points were at our highest mountain top."
In the end, the pair wrote it to pay tribute to his story — and to offer hope.
