T.J. Maxx is a great place to shop if you want to get unique designer products on a budget. The store frequently stocks different items, and shoppers love finding hidden gems in the racks and on the shelves.

To “maxx”imize your shopping experience, however, you should avoid the store on certain days and focus on others.

Don’t Shop at T.J. Maxx on Sunday

While you may still be able to find great deals, weekends typically aren’t the best time to shop at T.J. Maxx. According to one Reddit thread, a T.J. Maxx associate said to avoid the store on weekends (but especially Sundays), writing, “The store will probably be understaffed, crowded and messy.”

After a busy Saturday, the store might not be up to its usual standards on Sunday. Plus, the influx of weekend shoppers is likely to leave the store messier and more picked over than it normally would be. Associates could be busy with customers and, therefore, unable to restock or tidy up as quickly as they would on slower weekdays.

Head to T.J. Maxx Midweek for the Best Experience

The best days to shop at T.J. Maxx are on weekdays, but particularly Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings, according to associates’ Reddit posts. The general idea is that you’ll avoid the crowds and associates will be more available to help you with any questions. They’ll also have time to restock items, giving you the chance at a first-look for newly stocked items.

In addition, if you get there early enough, you’ll have the ample time to sift through items and find hidden treasures.

If You See Something You Love, Grab It

The T.J. Maxx website offers great tips for how to best shop their ever-changing collection of merchandise. Because the store doesn’t have backroom stock, and even the store managers don’t always know what’s coming in on a daily basis, the chances of seeing the item days or weeks later is slim.

Regardless of what day you choose to shop at T.J. Maxx, if you see something you love, you’d be wise to buy it right away before another savvy shopper takes advantage.
