A colonoscopy is a medical procedure in which a doctor examines the large intestine using a microscopic camera to check for colorectal cancers, according to the Mayo Clinic. It can also be used to identify any blockages, ulcers, or other ailments.
Schumer did not share any additional information into how exactly her colonoscopy went awry, but has spoken about facing health issues in the past. She reflected on being diagnosed with Cushing syndrome on a 2025 appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast.
“I was getting these steroid injections, and so it gave me this thing called Cushing syndrome, which I wouldn’t have known if the internet hadn’t come for me so hard,” she said at the time.
“I learned that I had something called ‘moon face,’ and I’m starring in a movie [Netflix’s Kinda Pregnant] and there’s a camera in my face, and I’m like, ‘Oh, my God.’ I was feeling really down on myself before I started filming this movie.”

That same year, she confirmed in an Instagram Story that she had lost 50 pounds in order to “survive” Cushing syndrome.
"I had a disease that makes your face extremely puffy that can kill you, but the internet caught it, and the disease has cleared," she wrote. "Sorry for whatever feeling it's giving you that I lost that weight.”
Schumer also acknowledged that while she doesn’t use Botox or fillers these days, she has “had plastic surgery over the years” and takes Mounjaro (tirzepatide), a blood-sugar medication that can also be used to manage weight.
"Sorry to anyone that lets down," she continued. “I’m pain free.”
