Swedish progressive metal pioneers Seventh Wonder welcome Mattias Olofsson as their new lead singer, debuting on the upcoming album and first single.
Swedish progressive metal masters Seventh Wonder are kicking off a new era with the official introduction of their third lead vocalist, Mattias Olofsson, formerly of the band Grand.
The announcement comes 26 years after the bandās formation in 2000 and marks the beginning of what theyāre calling Seventh Wonder Mk.IV.
The band shared a photo of the full lineup on Instagram, captioned:
āHere is Seventh Wonder Mk.IV: say hello to MATTIAS OLOFSSON!! Mattias joined the band quite a while back and has since stepped up to the plate delivering both original tracks as well as the vocal parts for the upcoming album. We are delighted to have found a Stockholm-based talent, who can bring some new flavors to the sound and also participate regularly in band activities.ā
Mattias also expressed his excitement:
āIām beyond proud and grateful to join the Seventh Wonder family! The band has an incredible history and Iām thrilled to become a part of their legacy. Iām so excited for what weāre about to create together and canāt wait to get on this journey with all of you.ā

To introduce Olofsson, Seventh Wonder released a cover of John Norumās 1987 hit āEternal Flameā via Frontiers Music Srl, giving fans an early taste of their evolving sound.
The track features Olofssonās melodic, refined vocal style, showcasing crystal-clear highs and emotional depth.
Seventh Wonder was formed in Stockholm in 2000 by Andreas Blomqvist (bass), Johan Liefvendahl (guitar) and Johnny Sandin (drums) after their previous band dissolved. Keyboardist Andreas āKyrtā Sƶderin joined later that year.
The band initially cycled through vocalists, starting with Ola HalĆ©n (2001ā2002) and Andi Kravljaca (2002ā2005). Their debut album, Become (2005), launched them into the progressive metal scene. In 2005, Tommy Karevik joined, contributing to what many fans consider the bandās golden era with albums like Waiting in the Wings (2006), Mercy Falls (2008) and The Great Escape (2010).
After drummer Johnny Sandin left in 2012, Stefan Norgren joined. This lineup produced Tiara (2018) and The Testament (2022). Following Karevikās departure in 2023, Seventh Wonder took time to find a new vocalist, ultimately selecting Mattias Olofsson, completing the lineup for their seventh studio album, currently in progress.
For those curious about Olofssonās previous work, the band recommends checking out āKryptoniteā by Grand on YouTube, giving a taste of his versatile vocal range.
Fans can stream the new single āEternal Flameā and watch the official visualizer on YouTube now.
